EAA Chapter 241

EAA Chapter 241 is located in DeKalb, Illinois, and our primary airport is the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport (KDKB). We are a local chapter of the international non-profit organization, Experimental Aircraft Association, and we gather together to share in the joys of aviation. Pilots and non-pilots, aircraft owners and builders as well as non-owners are welcome to join. Our chapter has no dues, sharing in the belief that we are all gathering together not to make a profit, but to share our love of flying.

Please note the aerobatic box in use on the northwest corner of the airport. The aerobatic competition will conclude later on Sunday and they are planning a busy day with many aircraft competing. Aircraft that complete their routine will announce their position on UNICOM as they reenter the traffic pattern. Aircraft waiting their turn in the box will be orbiting nearby, usually above normal traffic pattern altitudes. The aerobatic box is about a 3/4 mile square area adjacent to runway 02/20 on the west side and north of runway 09/27. The box is from the surface to 4000AGL (about 5000 MSL).
To avoid the aerobatic box, keep your pattern outside of Peace Road until you are over or south of Runway 09/27 or north of the airport. Please note that with the breakfast fly-in, the aerobatic competition and the Bi-plane fly-in, the airport will be very busy for this weekend. Keep you eyes out for non-radio aircraft. After you have taxied in from landing, be alert for numerous people on the ramp around parked aircraft. Many of them may be distracted watching the aerobatic planes overhead. The most important people to watch for are the ground marshalling crew waving you into the parking area. Please be alert to their presence and follow their instructions as they park you in the best location for breakfast. Thank you for coming to DeKalb Taylor Airport.

EAA Chapter 241 Meeting location and time

Chapter monthly meetings take place on the second Monday of each month and start at 6:30PM with hot dogs. The main program takes place at 7:30PM. Meetings are held at Steve Doonan and Jim Auman's hangar (Corporate Hanger 3) at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport (KDKB). For more information, please see the newsletter.

EAA is opposed to aviation user fees in the Senate "FAA Reauthorization Act". Introduction of aviation user fees would eventually increase the cost of general aviation to levels out of reach of average Americans. If user fees became the law and were imposed on each of our Young Eagles flights, it would be highly unlikely that children, our future aviators, would have the opportunity to fly in the Yound Eagles program. Keep in ming that the general aviation community already contributes to FAA funding via a fuel tax.

Please contact your Congress person and voice your opposition to aviation user fees. For more information please visit EAA User Fees page.
